After purchasing this rod I put on a 6500 series Penn reel. The balance is great and I like the design of the rod. However, I found out this weekend that this rod is no match for a Grouper of 15 lbs. or better. 3 hookups and 3 lost battles as this rod just does not have the backbone for that fight. I love the do it all rod!! I can use it off-shore, on the pier, and the surf!! I don’t have to carry multiple rods with me wherever I go!! The tip of that rod is super sensitive as well, I am impressed!!

I finally had a chance to put the rod to the test. I was very pleased with the rod while bottom bottom fishing. Using a 16 oz sinker, I was still able to feel the nibbles or the bite from 300-600’ water. Excellent designed rod and I would recommend this product to beginners as well as experienced fisherman. I haven’t gotten to use it yet but the feel and aesthetics are awesome. I plan to use it for striped bass and fluke this spring and summer with a Penn 7500 and then switch to 8500 or maybe 9500 for yellowfin in the fall.
