Just like the picture. there are four settings for each of the six different modes. Cycling through them all is the only way to change setting of a particular mode. Otherwise it is a GREAT little unit. The rechargeable battery is a nice feature.

This machine is fantastic I have severe leg pain and after I put in on and started to use it the pain level went down. Now I think I can get some good sleep just remember to take it off before going to sleep.
