Booked a half day private lesson with Rich to get a better understanding of the camera and settings on my phone. Went right back to basics looking at ISO, shutter speed and aperture. Very interesting, informative and inspiring walks/talks with Rich. Firstly finding all about kingfishers, and where to find them, culminating in sightings at Ilkley. Rich gave a very informative and interesting overview on Kingfishers and Owls prior to each walk offering plenty of top tips and advice. On both walks we headed out to the local area and as we headed around the walk Rich was always pointing out what to look for in search for of Kingfishers and Owls. A really enjoyable day, in and around Ilkley, with great scenery, excellent company and plenty of wildlife spotting opportunities. Rich ensured that we were in the best locations and provided many tips on how to spot wildlife and capture better images. Looking forward to returning.

The second half of the day was about reviewing photos I’d taken and offering comments to improve with better composition and lighting. What a great experience. Thoroughly enjoyable. I like taking photos but have always had my camera/phone set on auto mode. Well, I’m pleased to say that will now be a thing of the past. Well what a great evening and a great guide! Rich helped each of us all the time, not just pointing us towards a photo shot but actually altering settings on the cameras for us ( well me especially as I’m fairly new to photography and certainly the camera). Thanks, Rich. Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed the workshop. I’ve always felt a bit overwhelmed when thinking about changing the settings on my camera before but I don’t feel like that now. Looking forward to putting it into practice and I’ll keep an eye out for future workshops.
